Village Project

Reflect on your Village Project experience so far.   What have been the most impactful elements of this experience?   What are you learning? 

One thing that I feel has been impactful was being able to see how kids learn. One example of this is one day last week I was helping a student write a poem. We were spelling out words and it was interesting to me to see how kids are able to skip over a sound in a word when sounding them out. It was interesting to see that this kid would always get the first 2 letters rights and skip to the ending of the word. So I feel that this has been an impactful lesson because it shows that when teaching kids how to spell, you should remind them to take it slow. I also am learning that every kid is going to be at different points. For example their is this one kid in the class that knows what he’s doing and can not pay attention and talk to a friend and know exactly what the answer is or what to do. But other kids are the opposite and they need a bit more assistence and it has been a very good learning experience seeing this.
